Week 4 is here and we're getting ready for a block party! If you're just joining us, welcome! It's still not too late to jump in. Catch up on all the details below.
By now you should have finished your flying geese units & don't worry if you're a little behind, it's a quick catch up!
This week we will be working on the blocks. If you're doing the panel version of the quilt your blocks will come together quite quickly. If you're doing the large version you will be making 16 half log cabin blocks. This week we're playing with color and layout, assembling the log cabins as we go. Megan has some tips and tricks below to make your blocks the hottest party on the block.

Large Quilt with Panel
The blocks for the Large Quilt with Panel come together very quickly. With only a couple rounds of strips to add to your panel or block, it takes only a little time. If you're making the cover version of the quilt, follow the picture for your strip layout. Otherwise, play with your layout as you go.
Be sure to square up your finished blocks so they're ready to be sewn together next week when we complete the top. Or for some folks (cough...me) to catch up on their piecing.
Large Quilt
The Large Quilt is your chance to play. For anyone terrified of improvisational piecing this is an entry level paint by number version of that. We have cut our strips and now we can layout our blocks, trimming the strips into pieces as we go. A design wall or a large area of floor will be a great help this week so you can see the full vision.
Most important tip this week: after each strip set is added, square up your block. It's very easy to bow out the center of your block if your seam allowance is off at all. Squaring up after each round ensures that your block will remain square vs getting a little chonky around the middle.
