Every year our favorite modern fabric brand, Ruby Star Society releases a fabulous patchwork panel and 2023 is no exception! This year's quilt-tastic Projects with a Purpose panel boasts three stunning designs from each of their designers, each block measuring in at 8.5” x 8.5”.
Megan Callahan, our creative director master mind has created a jaw-dropping, free, downloadable pattern. Bear #128 Quilt was inspired by Katmai National Park's Fat Bear Week, recognizing the resilience, adaptability and strength of Katmai’s brown bears. We love celebrations of all sizes especially when it comes to big quilt blocks. This quilt is made up of nine 26" bear paw blocks. This quilt utilizes motifs from the Ruby Star Projects with Purpose Panel or you can substitute your favorite fussy cuttable fabrics. So, let's get sewing and celebrate the joy of creating something big and beautiful!

As we enter the season of giving, it's worth noting that with every panel sold to shops like ours Ruby Star Society donates $5 to the remarkable Jed Foundation. This organization strives to safeguard mental health and prevent teen suicide in the US. Following in their footsteps, Sewtopia will also contribute $5 for every panel sold to the AAPI Civic Engagement Fund. This organization supports and empowers Asian American Pacific Islanders to participate fully in a multiracial democracy through grant making, movement building, and research.
