Description
For the rebels, the rule-benders, and anyone who ever gave their mama a run for her money this one's for you. The "Mama Tried" poster is a cheeky nod to Merle Haggard’s iconic anthem, brought to life with Hatch Show Print’s signature letterpress style.
The birth of this print was kismet. Letterpress printing requires an unflagging attention to detail, and measuring multiple times throughout the process, from design to final trim. The week we found the time to print the first run, a national quilters' conference had set up at the convention center across the street here in downtown Nashville, and as attendees popped over for a visit, they assumed we had planned it just for them.
Indeed, it was for them, along with our fellow letterpress printers and woodworkers, or really anyone who works with a measuring stick.
It was also a great opportunity to use some of our big wood type from the magical wall o'wood, and mess it up at the very end with that final cut.
Hatch Show Print was founded in 1879, historic Hatch Show Print is a letterpress poster print shop owned and operated by the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum in Nashville, Tennessee.
