Description
Before Vanessa was even born, she was going to quilt shops with her mother. As children, she and her brothers were surrounded by shelves full of quilting fabric, the constant whir of her mother’s Bernina, and piles of patterns ready for mailing. Is it any wonder that she made her first quilt as a teenager? Vanessa never made any plans to follow in her mother’s footsteps, but somehow the fates decided differently. When Vanessa was expecting her first child, she started quilting again. She found that creating her baby girl’s first quilt was an intoxicating experience – and she couldn’t stop. In 2010 Vanessa started a pattern company called Lella Boutique. She has published dozens of quilt and sewing patterns, and is author of two bestselling books. Vanessa has always been drawn to the beautiful fabrics of Moda and began the joyful experience of designing fabric for Moda starting in 2013. She has always felt a call to create and bring beauty into the world through this medium. Of all her creations, her favorites are called Olive and Lorenzo – who also like making things and keep life exciting down in southern Utah.
